What that means in practice

We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programmes. These are advertising programmes that pay a referral fee on qualifying purchases made through our links.

The rules we hold ourselves to

• We buy what we test. No manufacturer sends us free product, and we do not accept payment from suppliers in any form — not for a review, not for an award, not for a place in a guide.
• The commission is the same whichever product you choose, so it cannot move a score or a ranking.
• No brand is told its score before publication.
• We do not publish prices. We rank in tiers instead. Amazon's terms only permit displaying prices pulled live from their API on their refresh schedule, so any figure we typed would be stale within a week. Use the retailer link for the current price.
